The final of the Shamrock Cup between Monaghan and Tyrone will take place on Wednesday week, February 29, under lights at the Monaghan Training Centre in Cloghan, throwing in at 8pm. Tyrone topped the group in the Cremartin-run competition for Under-21 inter-county teams with wins over Meath, Antrim and Monaghan, while Monaghan finished second after also getting the better of Antrim and Meath. The final is a repeat of last year’s Shamrock Cup, where Tyrone finished on top and the Red Hands went on to edge out Monaghan in the Ulster championship semi-finals, so both teams will be keen to sign off with a win. Both counties are due to start their Cadbury’s Ulster Under-21 Football Championship campaigns on March 21.
