Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 23rd February

Awards Night: Our awards night was held on Saturday night. The night got underway with presentations to newlyweds Gerard and Sharon Mc Caffery and David and Paula Treanor. The awards for 2011 went to Robbie mc Hugh as senior player of the year, Emmet Colleran for B player of the year, Kieran Mc Aree for C player of the year and U21 player of the year was Darren Mc Kernan and finally Minor player of the year went to Colin Hughes. Congratulations to all the lads on their performances during the year which earned them these awards.

 

Congratulations: To Seamus Mc Cluskey who was presented Scor Person of the Year award to recognise 40 years of contribution to Scor. Fear-a-Tí and organiser and the Peggy McQuaid Memorial Shield was presented to Seamus McCluskey by Mary Kirke (nee McQuaid) and Enda Clerkin.

 

Registration: Club registration is now due for all members and has to be paid before the end of March; this will cost €20 and can be paid to Anthony or Alice Mc Carron. Players please note Anthony and Alice Mc Carron will be at training this Friday night to collect this registration money.

 

Upcoming Fixtures: The Season kicks off very soon with 3 reserve games during March.

Pitch: The pitch will be closed during the month of February. Any pitch bookings etc please contact field officer Mickey Mc Carron on 0872114890.

 

Refereeing/Umpiring: Anyone interested in Refereeing/Umpiring in 2012 please contact John Finn on 0861727544.

 

Coaching Certificates: anyone interested in completing a Level 1 youth & adult coaching cert on the 2nd/3rd and 9th/10th of March or anyone interested in completing a Foundation course on the 23rd/24th of March, please contact coaching officer Niall McKenna ASAP.

 

U12 & U14: Continues on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7.00-8.00pm

 

U16: Training every Monday and Wednesday night from 8.00-9.00pm

 

Handball:Darren Doherty was in action again last week-end representing St. Macartan’s College in the All Ireland Colleges Competition. He played great stuff to reach the final where he met his old rival Colin Crehan, Co. Clare. The games were very close with Colin winning 15 – 14; 15 – 11. Well done to Darren on reaching the final and this follows his success in winning the Ulster Minor Singles Title playing in a grade that is two years above his age group.

 

 

 

 

Help Daire Reach for the Stars!:There will be a 45 card game taking place this Friday the 24th of February in the Scarna Inn, Emyvale in aid of the “Help Daire Reach for the Stars!” fund. Baby Daire is son of Shelly (nee Tracey) and Kenny Gorman. It starts at 9pm  and entry cost is €10 per person, all proceeds goes towards “Help Daire Reach for the Stars!” fund. Spot prizes and refreshment on the night. All welcome – Please Support

Bingo: Thursday Nights in the Emyvale leisure centre at 9.00pm. Jackpot € 5,600 on 45 calls or less and Mini Jackpot € 500 on 51 calls or less €1900 Guaranteed. Bingo cleaning rota for February: Stephan Mc Aree and John Finn
