Ulster Under-21 Football Championship: Our Quarter-Final clash with Omagh St. Enda’s takes place this Sunday, February 5th with a throw-in time of 12.45pm. The game is part of a double-header, with Dungiven taking on Kilcar in the second game at 2.30pm. The venue is the Creggan GAA club which is located on Staffordstown Road, Creggan, Randalstown, County Antrim BT41 3LH. Cullyhanna and Mayobridge have booked their places in the Semi-Finals after wins against Creggan and Assan Gaels last weekend. Best of luck lads!

McKenna Cup: Even though Monaghan failed to make it to final stages of this competition, we did have some representation at the Final last Saturday night. Our own Donal Connolly was on duty as the fourth official for the game between Armagh and Tyrone. Congratulations Donal!

Shamrock Cup: Monaghan stared the competition with a win against Antrim on Saturday. There were three Scotstown players in action – Rory Beggan, Damien McArdle and Shane Carey. Monaghan have games against Meath and Tyrone to come in the competition.

Awards: The Coiste Chontae Mhuineachain Annual Dinner & Awards Presentation took place last Friday night, January 27th in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan where Darren Hughes was presented with the County Player of the Year award. Well done Darren.

Coaching Course: Anyone interested in doing a Level One Children Coaching Course please contact Macartan McKenna, John Meehan or Kevin Connolly asap.

Re-scheduled Coaching Workshop: The “Bring Back Kicking” Coaching Workshop which was cancelled last week has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 15th at 7.30pm. The venue will be the Scotstown training grounds at Kilmore East, and the tutor will be Terence McWilliams. This workshop is targeted at all coaches, and is free of charge.

Registration: Club Membership fees are now due. Please contact Registrar Ronnie McDermott.

Bar Rota: Sean McKenna and Kevin Boylan will be on duty this weekend.

Ciste: The Ciste draw took place on Saturday night in the Social Club.
The winners for January were: €700 – Sean Smyth, Derryledigan; €300 – James Turley, Ballinode; €100 – Paulin  Rooney, Scotstown; €100 – Brendan Keenan, Broomfield; €100 – John Milne, Derryarrit; €100 – Linda Treanor, Smithborough; €100 – Joe Malone, Dublin; Tommy Ward, Mullinarockan. Sellers prizes: €30 – Seamus McQuillan; €30 – McCagues Bar. The next draw will be on Saturday, February 25th in the Social Club.

Complex Booking: The Sports Complex is available for any type of event, and the Gym is available for any sporting activity. It is important that you to check that the facilities are available and that you book the complex in advance. Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the recently deceased who include: Eugene “Sam” Treanor, St. Dympna’s Terrace; Brigid McCrudden, Knocknagrave and Nuala Nugent, Mullingar (daughter of Margaret Fitzsimons (nee Sherry), Tyraverty).

Keep Fit: It’s that time of year again, so let’s get a head start before those wet nights round Kilmore. Let Lisa and Tina put you through your paces while having a laugh. Keep fit every Monday and Thursday night in the Complex at 8pm.

Congratulations: To Marese McCarra and Stephen Tierney on their recent engagement. Looking forward to the Big Day Out!

Deepest Sympathy: To Amanda Treanor and the extended Treanor family on the death of Eugene – his presence will be sadly missed around the playing field.
