Congratulations: To Michael Lawson who has now reached the Final of Junior North East got talent in the Fiddlers in Carrickmacross. Michael was a participant in Scor na nOg for Aghabog a couple of years ago and to have reached the final of this competition shows just how far he has come since then. At the club’s recent AGM, our cultural officer, Maureen Gavan and the Chairman, Tony McGorman spoke very proudly of the fact that Aghabog would be represented by Michael in the final of this major competition. The final will take place in the Fiddlers in Carrick this Sunday evening 11th Dec at 5:00pm. Michael will need every vote possible on the night so please try and make a special effort to attend.

Christmas Party:

This year’s Christmas Party will take place on Sat 17th Dec. There will be a disco and food served on the night. The big reveal for Kris Kindle will also take place. Courtesy lift will be available on the night. All welcome on what is likely to be a great nights entertainment.

AGM: The Annual General Meeting of the Club took place on Sunday evening in the clubhouse with a good crowd in attendance. The meeting was addressed by Club Secretary Damien Murphy and this was followed by the Treasurer’s report from John Connolly who gave a detailed account of the clubs finances. Our Cultural Officer, Maureen Gavan gave an excellent account of the Club’s activity in Scor Spraoi, Scor na nOg and Scor Sinsir and this was followed by warm tributes to Maureen after she announced that she was stepping down from the position after 12 years. In his speech, Chairman Tony McGorman praised the continued efforts by all club members and players throughout the year and looked forward with optimism to 2012.

The following Club Officers will be in place for 2012:

Chairperson: Tony McGorman

Vice Chairperson: Paddy O’Brien

Secretary: Damien Murphy

Asst Secretary: Donna Wall

Treasurer: John Connolly

PRO: Pauric McPhillips

Youth Officer: Eugene Burn

Coaching Officer: Frank O’Brien

Registrars: Bronagh Quigley and Joanne McGorman

County Board Delegate: Owen McCarron

Cultural Officer: Vacant

U21 Members: Dermot Smyth, Damien Smyth, Shane O’Brien, Darren Kelly.

There’s something about Marty: Congratulations to Marty Fox on being awarded the Senior Player of the Year award at Sundy nights AGM. Possibly the best compliment to pay Marty is to say that this was no surprise. Since returning to football a few years ago, Marty has been a regular on the Senior Team and has showed tremendous dedication and commitment to Aghabog. A corner back by trade, Marty made many successful trips further up the field during the course of the year, picking off a few points in the process. No doubt by winning this years award, Marty will be looking for first refusal on Penalty Kicks next year. In order to prevent this from happening, a petition is currently in circulation and will be submitted to Gerry O’Brien before the start of the new season.

Scor na nOg: Hard luck to our Novelty Act of Caitlin Carolan, Shannon Reilly, Tyler OHanlon,

Alisha McCarville, Leah Leonard and Thomas Smyth who narrowly lost out in the Ulster Semi-Final of Scor last Friday night in Clontibret.

45 Card Drive:
Will take place in the Clubhouse this evening Thursday starting at 9pm. Prizes include hampers and turkeys.
