Sean Mac Diarmada Notes 3-11-11
Gala Banquet:
Our main celebration of the year took place on Sunday last in the Hillgrove Hotel. Some 474 people attended our Gala Banquet which lasted well in to the wee small hours. The Hillgrove Hotel put on a superb show and the food and service was excellent. It was quoted that it was the largest gathering at any social gathering of our club. Photographs were taken ad lib and details of how to access them will be given in the notes next week. Many thanks to our special guest’s county chairman; Paul Curran and his wife Louise, and president elect of the GAA Liam O’ Neill and his wife Aine. It was a huge community event and the club are extremely grateful to all of our patrons, who attended on the night. The club executive would like to thank anybody who helped in any way to organise the event and especially those who sold tables to their families and friends. This a great reflection which is very prevalent in our parish. Thank You very much. Here’s looking forward to the next 50.
Jubilee Year:
Any person who may have old photos or video archive from club activities over the last 50 years are, and who think it is worthy of inclusion in our Jubilee DVD are asked to contact Ciaran Mc Entee or Gerry Lynch. Footage from the Gala Banquet will be included in the DVD, which will be available in early December.
Spraoi Scór:
Both St. Michael’s & St. Mary’s National Schools represented our club in Sproai Scór last Friday in Tullycorbet. Our club had entries in Solo Singing, Question Time, Instrumental Music and Ceile Dancing. Our young entrants are an absolute credit to our parish, they did us proud! The standard in each category was outstanding, with a record number of twelve clubs participating, so huge congratulations are due to our Ceile Dancers who picked up top prize!! Well done Michelle & Edel, your hard work continues to bear fruit. For the record our Ceile Dancers were: Kerrie Freeman, Killian Murphy, James Murphy, Shane Maguire, Ellen Mc Kenna, Daynah Mc Elvaney, Caoimhe Mc Mahon, Abbey Mc Entee.
The dedication and commitment from all – parents & children, is very much appreciated. Thank you to all who have helped us compete with the best.
