Sean Mac Diarmada Notes  1-12-11

Team Manager:

We are now on the lookout for a new team manager after Gary, Colm and Paul decided to step down after 2 very successful years. Their dedication and attention to detail was second to none. Along with these three men there were several people who assisted in the background, most notably Sean Mc Elvaney who organized transport to Ulster Intermediate League matches and flights for those who had to travel from abroad among other things. The old saying comes into mind “if you want something done, and done right, then ask somebody busy to do it”. This is surely a reflection on these men. On behalf of the club we extend our deep gratitude to Gary & co.

Scór na nÓg:

This year’s Scór county final took place last Friday in Corcaghan. Our club had entries in Céile Dancing, Solo Singing & Question Time. Again, the standard in each category was outstanding; each of our young participants put on a fantastic display, but unfortunately, the final decision did not go our way so we don’t progress to the Ulster Semi-finals.

Our young entrants are an absolute credit to our parish. A huge thank you is due to our Céile Dancers: Sarah McKenna, Shannon Mulligan, Ellen Murphy, Órlaith McElvaney, Ellen McKenna, Aoife McElvaney, Niamh Maguire & Evanne McCaffery, our Solo Singer: Lisa Dolan, and our Quiz Team: Pierce Murphy, Seán Freeman & Conor Freeman. They did us proud!

The club would also like to extend their thanks to the parents & families of everyone who part-took in both Spraoi Scór & Scór na nÓg, for their commitment and support over the last few months. Plus a special thank you must go to Edel & Michelle Mulligan and Paula Maguire for all their hard work & dedication.

We wish each club who progressed to the Ulster semi-finals, every success.

Cultural Night:

Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session takes place on Friday 9th December. Session kicks off at 9pm sharp. Any singers/dancers please feel free to come along, everyone welcome. We look forward to seeing you all there!

AGM:

Our AGM takes place tomorrow night in the complex @ 9:00pm. All club members have been personally invited and hopefully as many as possible will see fit to attend.

Bowls:

Bowls every Thursday night in complex at 8.30pm. New members of all ages welcome. Coaching and Bowls will be provided.

Votes of Sympathy:

CLG Sean Mac Diarmada would like to sympathise with John and  the Prunty family on the untimely death of Elizabeth Prunty, Cabra. May she rest in peace.
