Scotstown Notes

By michael Wed 30th Nov

Annual General Meeting: The Annual General Meeting of C.L.G. An Bhoth took place on Friday, November 25th. Club Secretary Michael Owen McMahon gave a report on what was an eventful season for Scotstown. Outgoing Treasurer Matt McCrudden reported on the financial side of the club during the last year. This was his last report, as he stepped down from the role after ten years of hard work. Youth Officer Macartan McKenna reported on the busy juvenile scene, before a report on Scór activities was delivered on behalf of the Cultural Officer. Chairman Kevin Connolly gave an address reflecting on his first year in the role. He paid tribute to everyone involved with the running of the club, giving special mention to outgoing Treasurer Matt McCrudden on his contribution over the years. The election of officers was not necessary, as none of the officer roles were contested on the night. Brian McGinnity stood down from his position as Players Representative, and the players will decide on a new representative in the near future. A number of motions were debated and voted on. Some remaining matters were dealt with before the meeting drew to a close. The officers of Scotstown GAA for the coming year are: Chairman: Kevin Connolly; Vice Chairman: Eugene McCarey; Secretary: Michael McMahon; Assistant Secretary: Peter McKenna; Treasurer: Eugene McKenna; Assistant Treasurer: Martin Connolly; Public Relations Officer: Seán Corr; Youth Officer: Macartan McKenna; Coaching Officer: John Meehan; Cultural Officer: Pauline Rooney; Development Officer: Niall McKenna; Registrar: Ronnie McDermott; County Board Delegate: Austin Corrigan; Players Representative: To be confirmed; Alcohol & Substance Abuse Officer: Caroline Caulfield; Children’s Officer: Alice McMahon. Hard Luck: Commiserations to Gerry McCarville and his Cremartin team as they lost by a single point in the Ulster Club Junior Championship Final last Sunday.
Scotstown GAA DVD: If you’re having trouble thinking of a Christmas gift, help is at hand as copies of the “Scotstown – Our Story” DVD will soon be available again. This triple disc set provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the club, with contributions from many well-known club personalities plus highlights of games and events down the years. See next week’s notes for more details on how you can get a copy.
Scór: The Ulster semi-finals take place this Saturday, December 3rd in Clontibret.
Boxercise: Do you want to get in shape for Christmas in a fun way? Why not come along to the complex on Tuesday nights at 7pm for Boxercise. All fitness levels welcome.
Complex Booking: The Sports Complex is now available for any type of event. The Gym is available for any sporting activity. It is important that you book the complex in advance or check that the facilities are available. Arthur King is our contact person to arrange booking of the facilities and his mobile number is (086)8516944
Keep Free: The Juvenile Presentation night takes place on Sunday, December 11th at 8pm in the Complex. The special guests on the night will be International Rules vice-captain Ciaran McKeever along with International Rules and Scotstown clubman Darren Hughes. Please come out and show your support for the efforts our Juveniles have put in this year.
Bar Rota: Eugene McCarey and Stephen McKenna.
Scotstown Ladies Club AGM: The Ladies AGM will take place next Friday the 9th of December in Scotstown Complex at 8pm. It is very important that all senior players attend as well as parents of juveniles. Our committee has been kept afloat by a minority of a few hard working ladies – this does not reflect the size of the club, with the most registered players in Monaghan and more help is needed. Please make a special effort to attend.
Fit For All: A keep fit class takes place for both ladies and men in Tydavnet Community Centre every Monday and Thursday night at 8pm. The class includes a wide variety of different fitness techniques including circuits. The first class is free when you attend, give this a try and see how you can lose calories before Christmas – just 3 weeks to go
