DIV 1 LEAGUE FINAL –  Donaghmoyne win back the MJ Lambe cup

Donaghmoyne  0-10   Emyvale   1-6

Donaghmoyne added the league title to their championship title, with a hard earned win over Emyvale on Friday evening last. It was the same two teams that met in the championship final where Donaghamoyne won convincingly. Friday night however was a different story, with Emyvale putting it up to Donaghmoyne all the way. In the end just a single point seperated both sides, in what was a very entertaining and exciting game. `

It was Donaghmoyne who opened the scoring of the game with a point from Lisa Kingham. They increased their lead shortly afterwards with a point from Eileen Mc Elroy. Emyvale started to put on the pressure and were awarded a free, which was converted by Therese Mc Nally. Donaghmoyne responded on the other end with Catriona Mc Connell converting a free to put Donaghmoyne 3-1 up with 15 minutes of the first half gone. Then Donaghmoyne were reduced to 15 with Cora Courtney sin binned. Emyale started to push forward . Another free for Emyvale once again converted by Therese Mc Nally narrowed the gap to a single point. It was nip and tuck for the rest of the  half with Catriona Mc Connell adding another point and Aisling Mc Kenna finishing the scoring of the half with a point for Emyvale. Going into the break, Donaghamoyne held a one point lead 0-4 to 0-3

With only a point between the sides it was all to play for in the second half. Unfortunately for Emyvale they were then reduced to 14 players with Aoife Mc Anespie sin binned for 10 minutes. This was a big blow for the Emyvale. Catriona Mc Connell converted a another free to put 2 between the sides. Credit to Emyvale, a player down they continued to drive forward. Linda Martin denied Aisling a goal but soon afterwards Emyvale were awarded a penalty which Therese Mc Nally made no mistake in converting. Donaghamoyne were quick to respond and scored 4 points in succession, 2 from Catriona Mc Connell and 1 each from Orla Mc Keown and Cora Courtney to put 3 points between the sides with 15 minutes of the game remaining. Aoife Mc Anespie was back in for Emyvale and this seemed to give Emyvale momentum as they started to push forward once again and put pressure on the Donaghmoyne defence. Emyvale were awarded a free and Therese Mc Nally converted. Shauna Mc Anespie added another point from play to leave just 1 point between the sides. Another free converted by Therese Mc Nally left the sides all square once again and with only 5 minutes remaining, it was hard to predict what way it was going to go. In the end a point from a free converted by Catriona Mc Connell  put Donaghnoyne a point up. They held onto this lead to take the MJ Lambe cup back to Donaghamoyne.

Emyvale 5-16  Latton 2-2
Emyvale finished off the year on a high when their minor team put up an excellent performance to beat Latton.
