5Km flat race/Operation TransFAUGHmation run/walk – The excitement is building now with the run/walk now just over a week away and a regular sight around the town is some of our TransFAUGHmation people getting some last minute practice in. Operation TransFAUGHmation –This Friday night there is kick-boxing in Rath na nOg at the earlier time of 6.00PM. Sunday morning sees the usual run/walk from the Castle gates at 10.00AM and the final session of circuit training takes place at Rath na nOg next Tuesday evening at 6.15PM. Winter Training Programme – U6 training is in Rath na n-Og from 6pm with the U8s are across the road on the Astroturf at Our Lady’s Secondary School from 6-7pm. The U10 Winter programme continues on Saturday evenings at 5pm on the Astroturf at Our Lady’s. As always, the club welcomes new players at each age group and any parents who wish to be involved or assist in any way are more than welcome. Gaelic4Girls – 8 weeks ago the Faughs under the guidance of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, kicked off the Gaelic4Girls programme with the aim of increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football. Over the 8 weeks, up to 50 girls, between the ages of 8 and 13 years have participated, some having played football before, some never but extremely eager to learn. While the programme comes to an end tonight (Thursday), all the hard work of the girls will be put on display, at the Regional Blitz Day on Saturday (26th Nov), in Cloghan at 11.30am. At this Blitz, the girls will come together with the other participants of all the Gaelic4Girls programmes showcasing their new skills and receiving their Gaelic4Girls medals, Jersey and Certificate. They will also get to meet the Ladies Gaelic Football All Stars and other County Stars. These girls have worked extremely hard over the 8 weeks, and we ask that you all come out to support them on Saturday.
AGM – With the playing season over for another year the action switches to the committee room and the club AGM has been arranged for Jan 5th in the Enterprise Centre, more details closer to the time.
Cardiac Screening – There will be a CRY cardiac screening clinic at the University of Ulster’s Jordanstown campus on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of November and it is open to all GAA clubs. Please note there is no charge for people getting screened. Screening is open to young people aged between 14 and 35 years of age. A CRY cardiologist is in attendance to read the ECG and Echocardiogram, if an Echo is required. If any further medical referral is needed, the Cardiologist is on hand to offer expert advice. CRY encourages everyone to get screened particularly those involved in sport. They have requested that coaches and parents encourage young people that have not yet been screened to do so.
