Final Action: Inniskeen is the destination for this Sunday’s minor championship final where we take on Clontibret. Throw-in is 1.45pm. Good luck to the lads. All support appreciated.

Seniors: Our senior season is now completed. Our game with Magheracloone was postponed last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch. The fixture will not be re-made.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): We will play Clontibret away in the league semi-finals on Sunday 16th October at 2pm.

Minors: Championship final versus Clontobreat this Sunday 9th October in Inniskeen at 1.45pm.

Lotto Jackpot now €2,800: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers were: 3, 5, 12, 13. There were 2 match 3 winners each winning €100: Brian Bedford & Anna Rose McQuaid. Next week’s jackpot is €2,800. Check team: Roisin’s team.

Strictly Come Dancing: 14 couples have now hard practicing for the big night in the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday 28th October. Tickets for the dance off are now on sale. A night to look forward to.

Strictly Come Dancing Fundraisers: The dancers and teams are in full swing for their fundraisers in the next few weeks: 5-aside Football tournament this Saturday run by Barney McCabe. Contact Keith (0861099400) or Damian (0876594634) before 6pm this Friday to enter. League to knockout followed by presentation in squealing pig at 5.30pm. There will be a Clothes collection on Sat 8th October from St. Mellans at 11am, so bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. Family Fortunes this Saturday night in St. Mellans at 9.30pm by Therese McNally & Daniel McKenna. A ceili will be held in Carrickroe Community centre on Sunday 9th October, 4pm-7pm. Table quiz in Terrys on Thursday 13th October by Bridie. Head shave on Friday 14th October in St. Mellans by Mairead. Barn Dance held in Todd’s Leap on Saturday 15th by Benny O’Hanlon. Guest tea on Sunday 16th October by Mickey Corrigan. Glynn Williams is holding a card drive on Thursday 20th. Bridie Gilsenan hosts a race night in Terrys on Friday 21st. Olive McKenna is organising a poker night in Scarna on Friday 21st. Kelly Fay is holding a FIFA tournament in St. Mellans on Saturday 22nd. A 5km walk/10km run is being held on Sunday 23rd October at 11.30am. Registration on the morning. Thanks to everyone who supports these enjoyable events.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-10s: training continues every Thursday 7-8pm in St. Mellans. Our next blitz for u10s is Saturday 8th of October in Drumragh gac clanabogan. It starts at 9.30am, bus leaves St. Mellans at 8.15am.

U-13s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 7th October, starting at 7.30pm.

U-15s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 14th October, starting at 7.30pm.

Camogie:

Clothes collection: on Saturday 8th October at Mellans at 11am. So bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. This is a joint fundraiser for Strictly Come Dancing.

New Camogie Hoodies: for sale in Sports Club Shop, Adult and Kids sizes available.

 
Ladies Football:

Training: All training continues as per team management.

A decade of sport 2000-2010: On Saturday night last we launched a book composed by our very own Margaret Treanor. Inside this you will find match reports, team line outs, pictures and all the momentous moments over the last 10 years. This is available from any of our committee members at €10.

 

Hurling:

 

Seniors: Our seniors are through to the senior league final. The final is fixed for Saturday the 15th October against ‘Blayney in Monaghan at 4pm.

U-16s: The lads lost out to Clontibret in the championship final last Sunday 5-3 to 5-11. Hard luck lads.

12s and under: Training continues on Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

 

Handball:

 

Presentation Night. Our presentation night is changed to Saturday the 15th of October at 9pm with our special guest, the one and only Ducksy Walsh coming to St.Mellans. We are very fortunate to get a player of such stature to the club. Ducksy has 38 senior All Ireland Medals and will present our players with their awards.  Ducksy has also agreed to do some coaching with our juveniles earlier that evening at approx.  4pm so we ask as many juveniles and also coaches come along. Exact times will be in the paper next week.

Registrations: must also now be paid ASAP to Frank only. No other member of the committee will be accepting monies. Same fees apply as last year, Adult’s €30, 3rd Level students €15 and Juveniles €5. Also there is a €5 charge from the county board for all adult’s for each county competition entered into. Only fees that are paid will determine what each player is entered into. No pay no play under all circumstances.

Club shop: will now be stocking jersey’s for both senior and Juveniles, €25 for senior and €10 for juveniles. Also some polo shirts available (senior only) €25. The club shop is unfortunately out of senior handballs at the moment but we hope to have them back in stock very shortly.

Adult Competitions. We ask all who received sheets on which to state which competitions you wish to enter for the coming season to be returned to Kevin before tomorrow evening (Friday) as the league is starting shortly and any old or new comers make themselves known to Kevin by the same time.

Juveniles. Juvenile registration tomorrow evening Friday the 7th of October in St.Mellans at 7:30pm. We ask all juveniles to register on the night as we wish to start the coaching the following week. Fee is €5.

Finals. The outstanding Doubles finals were played last Thursday evening. In Div2, Richard O Reilly & Declan Mc Kenna were victorious over Brian Mc Kenna(O) & Patrick Mc Kenna on a score line of 21-16, 21-12. Well done all. Then later in Div1, Kevin Treanor & Padraig Mc Kenna eventually won a 3 game marathon match which was played in 2 alleys on a score line of 15-21, 21-15, 21-20 over Darrin O Reilly & Conor Mc Ginnity. All will need a bit of a rest after that one. Well done all.
