Carrickmacross are the Intermediate Football Champions, thanks to Sunday’s victory over local rivals Corduff in Clontibret.
Cremartin beat Donaghmoyne in an entertaining Maguire Transport Minor Football Championship Division Three Final, which was played as the curtain-raiser to Sunday’s IFC Final. Magheracloone are through to the MFC Division Two Final after they finally saw off Rock Sarsfields in Sunday’s second replay.
Ballybay secured a home semi-final in the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League with a comfortable win over neighbours Doohamlet on Saturday, which saw them overtake Latton, who drew with next Sunday’s SFC Final opponents Scotstown. Elsewhere, Clontibret edged out Castleblayney and Inniskeen got their first win of the league at home to Monaghan Harps. Magheracloone, who got a walkover from Truagh, will host Clontibret in the first semi-final next Saturday at 4pm, while the second semi-final sees Ballybay take on championship conquerors Latton at Pearse Park on October 16.
Éire Óg kept their faint hopes of staying up in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League alive by beating Rockcorry on Saturday, leaving them four points behind Aughnamullen with two rounds remaining.
Toome are guaranteed top spot in the Gerry’s Takeaway Junior Football League after they eased past Aghabog on Saturday, while Oram cruised to victory over local rivals Blackhill. Clones beat Killeevan on Wednesday night. The semi-finals will see championship winners Cremartin travel to Emyvale and table-toppers Toome host Clones, with both games set for October 16.
Doohamlet beat Carrickmacross on Tuesday to secure a semi-final place in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division Two, setting up a meeting with Ballybay, who got a walkover from Inniskeen on Sunday. The other semi will see Tyholland play Corduff. The RFL Division Three Final will be between Killeevan and Aughnamullen as Killeevan had a three-point win away to Emyvale in the first semi-final on Wednesday night, before Aughnamullen saw off Clontibret on Saturday. Latton got a walkover from Monaghan Harps in Division One on Sunday, securing their Division One status, while the semi-finals see Clontibret and Truagh and Castleblayney and Scotstown go head-to-head.
Magheracloone eventually saw off Donaghmoyne after extra-time in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-16 Football Championship Final Division Two Final Replay on Tuesday evening.
The Under-14 Football League Finals took place on Saturday, when Donaghmoyne came from behind to edge out Scotstown and win the Division One Cup. The Division One shield went to Monaghan Harps, who had a similarly narrow win over Killanny, while Éire Óg got the better of Latton in an exciting Division Three shield final. Killeevan edged a thrilling Division Four Cup Final against Drumhowan, with the shield going to a free-scoring Blackhill team at the expense of Rockcorry, while the Division Five Cup went to Emyvale, who pipped Emyvale, and Scotstown proved too strong for Currin in the shield.
Clontibret beat Truagh in a high-scoring Under-16 Hurling Championship Final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Monaghan clubs had mixed fortunes in the Ulster championships. Castleblayney put a big score (2-25) in their win over Kilclief from Down in the Ulster Club IHC, but Monaghan Harps lost narrowly to Na Magha of Derry in the JHC. Inniskeen beat St. Pat’s from Donagh in Fermanagh in the first round of the Ulster Ladies Club JFC on Saturday, while Donaghmoyne began their SFC campaign with a win over St. Gall’s, but Monaghan Harps were beaten by Lisnaskea in the IFC.
Clontibret completed a Monaghan camogie double when they beat Castleblayney in the final of the Jack’s Bar, Tydavnet Senior League.
