Further developments at Killeevan Sarsfields.

4 years since embarking on our major redevelopment plans with a Gala Ball in November 2007, Killeevan Sarsfields GAA Club are on the fundraising trail again. The ball was a huge success and allowed them to fulfil their long standing ambition to develop the areas at the far ends of their grounds as well as purchase some additional new ground. They complimented this fundraiser with a Club Killeevan membership scheme which, allowed them to complete Phase I of the plan, a state of the art Astro playing area. This area has been a great addition to the club and was fully booked all last winter, bringing a much needed regular revenue stream into the club. They have also succeeded in levelling and seeding a grass based training area behind the main stand, ahead of the original schedule. At this point almost €300,000 has been spent on the upgrade of their grounds, which included extensive engineering works resulting in the culverting of a river! All Gala Ball and Club Cill Laobhain funds were sidelined and used exclusively on developments, together with €25,000 National Lottery grant. At this stage, rather than rest on their laurels Na Sairsealaigh have decide to hit the fundraising trail again in order to progress Phase II of the plan which will target the drainage of the new training area, the erection of a new “friendly fence” pitch surround and new boundary fencing.

With support from Clones Credit Union, Killeevan G.A.C. will run a “Red or Black” event based on the hit TV show with Ant and Dec on Friday 4th November in the Hillgrove Hotel, with MC Sean McCaffery taking on both the Ant and Dec roles !! Tickets at €10 each have been selling briskly in the local area and they expect a large crowd on the night for what will prove to be a unique night of fun, entertainment and craic, as well as the opportunity of spinning the wheel for the chance to win a €5,000 jackpot. Just like the TV show the audience will be whittled down to just one, by selecting Red or Black, through a series of eliminator events. These eliminator events on the night will feature a number of local celebrities, characters and footballers, with County Senior Captain Dick Clerkin, Ladies Star Amanda Casey, together with Politicians, Heather Humphrys TD, Cllr. Seamus Coyle, Cllr. Ciara McPhillips already confirmed to take part. Who knows what they have let themselves in for, when you consider games with names such as I’m a Referee Get Me Out of Here, County Hot Shots, Fastest Milker in the West, Supermarket Sweep, and Scrap Car Challenge. Theres also a rumour that The Full Monty will be performed by The Ball Bearings.

Tickets at only €10 are available from any member of Killeevan Sarsfields, or by emailing killeevanredorblack@gmail.com. Doors open at 8pm with first elimator at 8.30pm. Further details as they are announced are also available on their facebook page at www.facebook.com/KilleevanGAARedorBlack
