Doohamlet GFC Notes

Seniors: Doohamlet Seniors completed the league campaign on Saturday last with an away fixture against Ballybay.  Doohamlet fielded a very depleted team but put in a strong performance against a team top of the league.  In what can only be described as a disappointing season Doohamlet struggled throughout the league and injuries put a serious strain on our small panel  but we can only regroup over the winter months and prepare for next season.

Reserves: Our Reserve team qualified for the semi-final stages of the league with a very good two point win over Carrick last week.   We now play Ballybay in the semi-final.

U16: Hard luck to our under 16 team who were beaten 3.14 to 1.12 by Blackhill in the championship semi-final.  As in the league final against the same opposition lady luck once again deserted us in the second half after the sides were level at the break.  However, the boys played terrific football during all their matches over the course of the season.  With a little rub of the green the season could had ended on a more successful note.  Recent setbacks will no doubt sharpen resolve in the years ahead.

Team panel:  Sean Loughman, Matthew Byrne, John Duffy, Ryan Ingram, Jamie Walshe, Damien Ward, Barry McGinn, Conor Marray, Barry McBennett, Nathan Connolly, Mark Connolly, Andrew Casey, Ryan McManus, M.J. O’Connor, Caolan Cumiskey and Hugh McGinn.

Under 14: Their season came to an end when beaten by Latton in the shield semi-final.  With as many as nine of our under 12 boys featuring on the team the players have to be commended for their efforts throughout the competition.  Team v Latton:  M.J. O’Connor, John Murphy, Gareth Duffy, Eoin Markey, Matthew McKenna, Pauric Malone, Conor Marray, Jamie Walshe, Hugh McGinn, Jack Ingram, Colin Gorman, Shane Leer and Dermot Kelly.

School League: Well done to our school team who have qualified for the league final to be played on Saturday 22nd Oct.  The boys have scored wins over Drumgosset, Lisdoonan and Corduff

Fundraising Cycle: Well done to all our cycling enthusiasts who cycled from Croke Park last Saturday.  Although the weather was far from ideal over forty participants took part and cycled the sixty odd miles.  A big Thank You to Gerry McElroy and Pete McMahon for their Sponsorship and all the ladies who supplied the after event refreshments in the hall.

Now the Cycle has been completed its up to each individual to collect much needed funds and return their Sponsorship Cards as soon as possible.

Congratulations: To Colin Walshe who celebrated his 21st Birthday recently with a party with family and friends in the Concra Wood Clubhouse.

Congratulations also to Sean and Deirdre O’Neill on the birth of their Baby Girl.

Blotto 03/10: No Jackpot winner, numbers drawn 6, 5, 4, 7, 1, 3, 2.  Lucky dip winners Dervla Duffy, Newbridge, Kildare; The Hughes Family c/o Brieges Newsagents; Evan Hughes, Oghill; Dympna Fee c/o Brieges Newsagents; Eilish McCann c/o Dinkins Castleblayney.  Next weeks Jackpot €10,000.
