Clontibret

Senior League

Clontibret 1-7, Latton 0-6. On a very wet day last Sunday, we finished off our league campaign as it started it back on 17th April, with a victory over Latton, this time in the final to claim the Owen Ward Cup for the thirteenth time, and the third time in six years. This was a victory for hard work and determination throughout the team and with scores at a premium, every tackle and score was of vital importance. The winning team and scorers were Paul McElroy, Pauric  Boyle, Colum Greenan, Colin Duffy, Donal Carragher, Dessie Mone, Darach Mooney, John P Mone (1-0), Paul McGuigan, Ronan Murphy, Rodney Gorman, Conor Boyle, Vincent Corey (Capt. 0-1), Conor McManus, (0-5), Fergal Mone. Subs: Ryan Mc Guigan (0-1), Padraig McGuigan, Eoin Greenan, Martin Corey, Declan Savage, Kevin Ward, Fergal McGuigan, Niall Duffy, Fergal Greenan, Shane Hughes, Fergal O’Dowd. This was the last match in a long year’s football with the senior league lasting over six months and involved many hard hours dedication from the players, management and backroom team. Many thanks to all who contributed to the team’s success during the year, including Declan Brennan, Kevin Carragher, Danny Clerkin, Colm Gormley, Frank McManus, Enda Galligan and Liam Swift.

Players of the Year

Following the Owen Ward Cup final, the Senior Club Player of the Year was announced as Colin Duffy with Reserve Player of the Year Kevin Ward. Well done to both who thoroughly deserve this recognition from their playing colleagues.

Schools Finals:

Hard luck to Rackwallace N.S. in their schools’ final last Saturday. It was a great achievement for this school to reach their 3rd final in a row. All players played their heart out and showed some great skills in difficult conditions. Tom Ward scored a great goal, while Daniel McDonnell worked very hard in midfield and Jack Duffy pulled off some great saves in goal. The boys were well supported by Daniel Tomany who marshalled the defence and wee Aodan Brennan showed well up front. Brian Macklin came on upfront and caused problems. A big thank you to the teachers in Rackwallace who support Gaelic Games and I have no doubt they will be back again. It was great to see many supporters coming out to support the players.

Nursery & U8 training

Training continues this week in the Community Centre for our U6-U8’s. The U6’s will be from 10am-11am and the U8’s will be from 11am-12. Please make sure you come and support this initiative. If any parent would like to get involved please contact Fergal Mone on 0872242726.
