Monaghan Coaching Conference “STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION – RAISING THE STANDARDS” will give coaches the opportunity to oberserve and learn from practical workshops and also engage with high level coaches in theory based sessions. This conference will allow those who attend, an opportunity to see some of Monaghan’s finest coaches in action and also witness at first hand, some of the country’s most innovative coaches & personalities share their thoughts on best coaching practices.
The following is the tutors who will be delivering a workshop at the conference;
Tony Scullion – Ulster Football Development Officer. Tony played football and hurling for Ballinascreen, Derry, Ulster and Ireland. He has won 4 All stars, 6 consecutive Railway Cup Medals, 3 NFL medals and an All Ireland SFC with Derry in 1993. Tony’s professional role is to assist the development of Gaelic Football in Ulster via Schools, Colleges, 3rd Level, Clubs and County Teams.
John Morrison- John hails from Armagh City and is actively involved in coaching for the past 40 years. John has experience in coaching underage, minor & Adult teams. Over the years John has coached Armagh, Antrim, Derry, Donegal, Mayo, Leitrim & is currently involved with Cavan senior intercounty team. John is also GAA Ulster Master Tutor & Tutor Trainer and has writen 5 Coaching books.
John Evans – Director of Football in Tipperary , commenced coaching , training and Managing teams in Kerry in 1981. John managed Laune Rangers to win 3 county Minor titles and 3 Senior C/ship titles , 2 Munster titles , 1 All Ireland club.He also managed Kerry U21’s and now he is the Tipperary Senior and U21 Football Manager and Coach. He is intrinsically involved with Tipperary underage development resulting in Tipperary becoming All Ireland Champions in 2011. He Managed and Coached Tipperary U21 Munster Champions 2010. He coached Clonmel High School to win All Ireland B colleges in 2010 .
Pauric McDonald – is originally from Castleblayney and played with the Faughs for most of his Football career winning 7 SFC medals. He represented Monaghan at U21 & Senior level. Working for the last 11 years as the full time Coaching Director with Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club in Dublin. Has coached at U21, Minor & Development squad level in Dublin as well as coaching the Monaghan Minor team of 2010.
Niall Moyna – Native of Scotstown in Co. Monaghan. Lecturer in Dublin City University and a key member of the current Dublin Senior Football Team.
Macartan McKenna – Orginates from Scotstown in Monaghan and is actively involved with Scotstown GAA Club. Macartan is a full time Ulster Department Coach for the Ulster Council. Macartan is working in Co. Down at Primary school level. His knowledge and skills in delivering Fundamental stage activity for 6 to 10 year olds is unmatched.
Marty Corey – Currently working as a Development Officer with Monaghan Coaching & Games. Devised Strength & Conditioning Programme for Monaghan Development Squads.
Dermot McArdle – Current Castleblayney Faughs and Former Monaghan Footballer – 7 Senior Championship Medals. Coached at Castleblayney Faughs since 1998. Holds a Level 2 Coaching Qualification. Current Position: Owner of GaelicPeformance, SquareBall Software Ltd, GR8 Entertainment, and sportsnews.ie
