AI Ladies Final: The bar will be open this Sunday showing the Monaghan v Cork Ladies match on the big screen at 4pm. All welcome. Best of luck to the 4 local girls who are on the Monaghan team.

Seniors: We lost our last home game of the league campaign, 1-8 to 1-15 last Saturday. Our team and scorers were: Ian Trenaor (0-1 x 45m); Michael McCrudden, Niall Feely, John McCarron; Paddy McKenna, Damian McRory, Rory Treanor; Niall McQuillan, Niall McMeel (1-2); Niall Coyle (0-2), John Treanor, Alan McKenna; Barry Cuddy, Mark Counihan (0-3), Sean McKenna. Subs Used: Pauric Treanor for Barry Cuddy (HT), Eoghan Kelly for Michael McCrudden (34’), Barry Cuddy for Niall McQuillan (43’) & Bernard Treanor for John Treanor (54’). Our next game is away to Magheracloone on Saturday 1st October at 4pm.

Reserve Div. 1 (B’s): We await the pairing of the league semi-finals, which will be held in October.

Minors: Championship final on 9th October.

Lotto Jackpot now €2,400: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers were: 1, 8, 13, 18. There were 2 match 3 winners each winning €100: Gerard A Treanor-Clara & PJ Sheerin (Yearly Ticket). Next week’s jackpot is €2,400. Check team: Anna Rose’s team.

Strictly Come Dancing: The official launch night took place last Friday night in St. Mellans to a great crowd and was a very successful event. 14 couples have now been paired up for the big night in the Hillgrove Hotel on Friday 28th October. Tickets for the dance off will be on sale shortly.

Strictly Come Dancing Fundraisers: The dancers and teams are in full swing for their fundraisers in the next few weeks: Darren Feely hosts a table quiz in Carrickroe Community centre this Friday 23rd at 9pm. Una McGee is having a sponsored car wash at Peader McGee’s mushroom houses, Emyvale, this Saturday 24th September from 9am to late. Mairead Holland McKenna is having a cake sale in Truagh parish hall, after Clara mass this Saturday evening. A fashion show is being held in St. Mellans on Thursday 29th September by the dancing Valerie Mohan. Una McCabe Treanor is hosting ‘School Around the Corner’ in St. Mellans on Saturday 1st October at 9pm. Special guests will be the Truagh Jedward twins. 12km Fun Cycle on Sunday 2nd October leaving at 11am and returning at St. Mellans in aid of dancing Raymond. Registration on the morning, or with Bob Crush (0868584600). There will be a Clothes collection on Sat 8th October from Mellans at 11am, so bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. A ceili will be held in Carrickroe Community centre on Sunday 9th October, 4pm-7pm. A 5km walk/10km run is being held on Sunday 23rd October at 11.30am. Registration on the morning. Also 5-aside football starting soon. Get your teams together, details to follow.

O-35 Tournament: Our 0-35 tournament shield final is taking place this Saturday between Monaghan Harps and Keady at 6.15pm.

Club Shop: The club shop will is now open each Tuesday between 6.30pm-7.30pm and every Thursday and Friday evening between 7-8pm.

U-6s: Coaching for 4, 5 and 6 year olds has now finished for this year. Thanks to the coaches and the kids who took part in this. We will see you all again early next spring.

U-8s: The blitz in clones was cancelled last Saturday due to bad weather. The u8s has now finished for the year. Thanks to the managers and team for their effort this year.

U-10s: took part in a blitz in Clann Eireann, Lurgan last Saturday. We reached the quarter final of the cup competition going out to a strong Tir Na Og side. Training continues every Thursday 7-8pm in St. Mellans. Our next blitz is in Drumragh gac, Clanabogan on Saturday 8th of October. It starts at 9.30am with bus leaving St. Mellans at 8.15am.

U-11s: are taking part in the BC blitz in Emyvale this Saturday 24th September. Check with management for times.

U-12s: DVD of U12 final is now available to buy at €15. Contact Kieran McGinn on 0862117933 to reserve your copy.

U-13s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 7th October, starting at 7.30pm.

U-15s: are taking part in the Friday night football under lights in Cloghan on Friday 14th October, starting at 7.30pm.

U-16s: Hard luck to our u16 team who where beat by Monaghan harps in the semi final of the championship last Tuesday evening. This now ends our involvement for the year. Thanks to the team and management for their efforts.

 

Camogie:

Clothes collection: on Saturday 8th October at Mellans at 11am. So bag up all those unwanted items e.g. Blankets,shoes, bags and Clothes. This is a joint fundraiser for Strictly Come Dancing.

New Camogie Hoodies: for sale in Sports Club Shop, Adult and Kids sizes available.

 
Ladies Football:

Good Luck: To Maggie, Natasha, Caoimhe, Eileen and the Monaghan Senior Ladies who are in the All Ireland Final v Cork on Sunday 25th September in Croke Park. We hope that they are successful in their attempt to become All-Ireland winners and we ask that as many as possible can make the journey to support the girls.

Bus to All-Ireland Final: Anyone interested in travelling on a bus departing from St.Mellans, please contact Eilis Treanor (Crush) on 0863919675. N.B Parents please note all children U-16 must be accompanied by an adult. Bus departs at 11am from St. Mellans. Seats must be reserved with Eilis. Contact her before then.

 

U-14’s: Training continues as per management. U-14 Championship is to get underway shortly.

Senior A’s:Training continues as per management.

Senior B’s: Training continues as per management.

Reserves: Semi Final coming up in this competition. Date to be confirmed.

A decade of sport 2000-2010: On Saturday night last we launched a book composed by our very own Margaret Treanor. Inside this you will find match reports, team line outs, pictures and all the momentous moments over the last 10 years. This is available from any of our committee members at €10.

 

Hurling:

 

Seniors: We have reached the League semi final against Inniskeen. It is to be held this Saturday 24th September at 5pm in St. Mellans.

 

U-16: Following our league victory, the lads continue to make strides with a win recorded in the quarter final of the championship last Monday evening against Carrickmacross ,2-7 to 1-7. Our Semi final is next Monday evening at 6.30pm in Cloghan.

 

Under 12s,10s and 8s: Training on Wednesdays at 6.30. All welcome.

 

Handball:

 

Presentation Night. Our presentation night is on Saturday the 8th of October at 9pm. We ask all players young and old to come along.

Finals: The outstanding Doubles finals are now fixed for Thursday the 29th of September: Div 2 @ 8pm Patrick McKenna & Brian Mckenna v Declan McKenna & Richard O’Reilly. Div 1 @ 9pm Padraig McKenna & Kevin Treanor v Conor McGinnity & Darren O’Reilly. These games were moved from Friday the 30th, but due to unforseen circumstances dates have been changed.
