Jubilee Banquet:
Following from our launch last Friday night, tickets are now available for our Jubilee Banquet on Sunday 30th October in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan. Tickets are available from any committee member and will be sold individually or a table for 8-10 persons. The committee would appeal that local members will let former club members and players who do not reside locally anymore of this important date in our social calendar. Doors will open @ 7: oopm on the night with a wine reception, followed by a four course steak meal. Entertainment will be provided on the night by Robert Browne and Shobud. Cost of tickets is €50 each.
Intermediate League:
Donaghmoyne put us to the sword in the Intermediate league last Saturday, which could be called a game of two halves. Windy conditions dictated the state of play and Donaghamoyne went in at half time with an unassailable league. Our men never got motoring right and Donaghmoyne finished deserved winners.
Jubilee Celebrations:
We are currently in the process of producing a DVD compiling the history of the club. Anybody who may have old video footage of any events such as football matches, Scor or any item of interest could they please forward them to Gerry Lynch or Ciaran Mc Entee as soon as possible.
Cultural Night:
Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session took place on Friday 9th, in the complex. This was a superb night’s entertainment, coinciding as it did with the launch of tickets for our Gala Dinner Dance. A huge thank you to all the musicians on the night – our local talent, plus Corcaghan C.C.É. and Monaghan C.C.É. A terrific night was had by all. Thank you !
So, remember to keep the 2nd Friday free! Next session takes place on Friday 14th October. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Dancing Classes: Céile Dancing classes resume on Monday Sept 5th, at the new time of 6.45pm. Michelle & Edel are looking forward to seeing some new faces, plus the return of their regulars.
Bowls:
Bowls every Thursday night in complex at 8.30pm. New members of all ages welcome. Coaching and Bowls will be provided.
Ladies:
Hard luck to our under-16 ladies team who lost their final against Eire Og .The girls and their mentors worked hard all year.
Good luck to the under -14 girls in the Championship semi-final on Saturday. All support greatly appreciated, check website for details.
A big thank you to the Seans men’s club for their generous donation as a result of the Sports Festival weekend, and also from the Three-Mile –Inn for their financial support from a recent pub draw. All support greatly appreciated.
At present the senior ladies are training for their long awaited semi-final of the reserve league. Training is going very well despite inclement weather and a huge effort will be required from all players to reach the final.
