Game last Sunday: Against Carrickmacross (League leaders) This was expected to be a hard game and as Carrick opened the score after two minutes with a point, they looked good. Never the less our lads came back straight away so we could see it was going to be a close game. Jack McCarron and Stephen Smyth with help from Dick Clerkin scoring steadily to half time. However the visitors spoilt it with a goal at twenty five minutes. At half time the score was Currin 6 points, Carrickmacross 1 Goal 5 points. Within two minutes of the start of the second half Currin scored 2 points to level the game, Carrick came back by scoring 3 points , Stephen and Jack came back with two more points but this was spoilt by Carrick scoring another goal. With three minutes to go Currin scored a point and then a brilliant goal scored by Conor McCaffrey who came from the defence to score and level the score again. At 30 minutes of the second half Carrick managed a point from play, to win the game. This was a great game to watch, Currin played very well as a team and showed that they are now back on form to get on with the remainder of their league games.
Monaghan Ladies reach All Ireland Final: Congratulations to Monaghan Ladies and in particular Ellen & Laura who overcame a strong Kerry team in semifinal last Saturday in Birr. It was a great exciting game of football and while Monaghan seemed to have the edge in the first half, Kerry came out after half time and scored 2 quick goals. Monaghan showed their true character then and battled hard to take control of the game and eventually pull away and win convincingly. Elleen was involved in many of the scores(slick quick pass for first goal) and scored 3 fine points at vital stages of the game. There was a great Currin following in Birr to support our girls. The All Ireland Final V Cork is on Sunday 25th Sept in Croke Park. We wish them continued good wishes.
