Monaghan GAA Star Claims 2011 MBNA Kick Fada Title!
Magheracloone man wins with kick of 60 meters in strong winds
Monaghan GAA star Shane Duffy wrote his name into the history books this weekend when he claimed the 2011 MBNA Kick Fada title. A member of Magheracloone GAA Club, Duffy set the standard amongst an incredibly talented field of over 20 inter-county players with an incredible kick of 60m in strong wind. Paul Hearty from Crossmaglen Rangers in Armagh and Paul Flood from Maynooth in Kildare came second and third respectively with kicks of 60m countback.
The Ladies title was claimed by Irene Munnelly from St. Ultan’s in Meath with a kick of 37m. The 2011 MBNA Kick Fada competition took place on Saturday 10th September in Bray Emmets GAA Club, Co Wicklow.
The MBNA Kick Fada determines who is the longest and most accurate kicker of a Gaelic football in Ireland. Competitors must kick the ball over the bar through specific competition goalposts twice the width of conventional goal sizes.
