Seniors: The senior footballers lost at home to Magheracloone in the league last Sunday. With a number of players absent, we had a much-changed team and it took our lads a long time to settle, allowing Magheracloone to hit the first six points, but a point by David Loughran and a goal from a penalty by Nicholas Treanor closed the gap to four by half-time (1-1 to 0-8). The Harps gave an improved performance in the second half and three well-taken points by Paul Kelly and further scores from Nicholas, David, Ashley White and Emmett McArdle cut the deficit to three, but a late surge saw Magheracloone wrap up a 1-14 to 1-8 win.
Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Niall McKenna, Stephen Driver (Capt.), Conor Devlin; Conn O’Hanlon, Conor Galligan, Mark McCaughey; Peter Coyle, Aidan Óg McAnespie; Paul Kelly (0-3), Nicholas Treanor (1-1, 1-0 pen, 0-1f), Ashley White (0-1); David Loughran (0-2), Emmett McArdle (0-1), Liam Hahessy.
Subs: Pat Murphy for Coyle (inj.), Johnny Sherry for Devlin, John McCoy for Hahessy, Séamus Brannigan for McKenna.
The seniors are back in championship action this Sunday with a back-door game against Inniskeen in Clontibret at 5.45pm. Best of luck to the panel and management.
