Meetings: The club’s monthly meeting for August takes place in the clubhouse this Thursday at 8pm.
Seniors: The senior footballers lost at home to Magheracloone in the league last Sunday. With a number of players absent, we had a much-changed team and it took our lads a long time to settle, allowing Magheracloone to hit the first six points, but a point by David Loughran and a goal from a penalty by Nicholas Treanor closed the gap to four by half-time (1-1 to 0-8). The Harps gave an improved performance in the second half and three well-taken points by Paul Kelly and further scores from Nicholas, David, Ashley White and Emmett McArdle cut the deficit to three, but a late surge saw Magheracloone wrap up a 1-14 to 1-8 win.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Niall McKenna, Stephen Driver (Capt.), Conor Devlin; Conn O’Hanlon, Conor Galligan, Mark McCaughey; Peter Coyle, Aidan Óg McAnespie; Paul Kelly (0-3), Nicholas Treanor (1-1, 1-0 pen, 0-1f), Ashley White (0-1); David Loughran (0-2), Emmett McArdle (0-1), Liam Hahessy.

Subs: Pat Murphy for Coyle (inj.), Johnny Sherry for Devlin, John McCoy for Hahessy, Séamus Brannigan for McKenna.

The seniors are back in championship action this Sunday with a back-door game against Inniskeen in Clontibret at 5.45pm. Best of luck to the panel and management.

Reserves: The Crawley Cup team return after a long break with a home game against Blackhill tomorrow night (Wednesday).

Minors: The minors are away to Truagh on Tuesday evening – check the club website for result – and they host Castleblayney next Tuesday.

U-16: The Under-16 footballers play Carrickmacross this Sunday in a play-off to qualify for the semi-finals of the Division One league. The game has been fixed for Oram, with a 12 noon throw-in.

U-14: Both Under-14 football teams are away to Carrickmacross this Saturday. The Division Five game starts at 12 noon, while the Division One game throws in at 1.15pm.

U-12: Both Under-12 football teams have home games this evening (Thursday). The Division One team play Truagh at 8pm, immediately after the Division Four game against Killeevan, which starts at 6.45.

Club Harps: Our current fundraising scheme is ‘Club Harps’, which presents a unique opportunity to invest in Monaghan Harps to maintain our central place in the community. Contact any committee member for more information. A meeting re ‘Club Harps’ takes place in the clubhouse next Monday and it is hoped to have this fundraiser finalised and all monies in for Monday.
