Seniors: The senior footballers made a disappointing exit from the championship. Despite points from Donal Hahessy (two) and Nicholas Treanor giving us a one-point lead midway through the first half, Inniskeen hit five-in-a-row to lead by 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time and a soft goal allowed them to pull further clear early in the second half. The Harps dominated the last 20 minutes, but scores from Donal (three), David Hughes (two), Nicholas, Neil McAdam and Conor Galligan weren’t enough, as Inniskeen held on to win by 1-9 to 0-11.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Conn O’Hanlon, Stephen Driver, Mark McCaughey; Aidan Óg McAnespie, Conor Galligan (0-1), Shane Coyle; Philip Drohan, Neil McAdam (Capt., 0-1f); Paul Kelly, Nicholas Treanor (0-2f), Pat Murphy; Donal Hahessy (0-5, 4f), David Hughes (0-2, 1 ’45), Emmett McArdle.

Subs: Liam Hahessy for Murphy, David Loughran for Kelly.

The seniors are away to Truagh next Wednesday in the league.

Reserves: The Crawley Cup team lost by a point at home to Blackhill on Wednesday. We started well, with Mark Mulhall’s goal and points by Mulhall, Paul Kelly and Brian Driver helping us take a six-point lead, but we let it slip and Blackhill came back with the next six points, although Gary Murray gave us a 1-5 to 0-7 lead at half-time. We could only add two points to our tally in the second half – from John McCoy and Kelly – allowing Blackhill to steal the narrowest of wins. We were due to play Aghabog on Friday, but it has been postponed due to their involvement in a JFC replay.

Team and scorers: Jimmy Croarkin; Fionntán Cassidy (Capt.), Lorcan McAdam, Finnian McKenna; Séamus Brannigan, Johnny Sherry, Pat Murphy; Niall McKenna, Bernie Murphy; Brian Driver (0-1), Mark Mulhall (1-2), Paul Kelly (0-2, 1f); Colm Shalvey, John McCoy (0-1), Gary Murray (0-1).

Subs: Conor Campbell for F McKenna, Raymond Lee for Shalvey, Mickey Buckley for McCoy (inj.), Mark Campbell for Driver, Niall Clerkin for B Murphy.

Minors: The minors lost to Truagh last week and they are at home to Castleblayney tonight (Tuesday).

U-16: The Under-16 footballers qualified for the semi-finals of the league with a 2-9 to 2-6 win over Carrickmacross in the play-off. A slow start allowed Carrick to build up a five-point lead, although Niall Duffy’s goal kept the Harps in touch and our lads grew into the game, with four points from Fearghal McMahon and one from Kevin Loughran closing the gap to a point by half-time (2-3 to 1-5). Fearghal (three) and Pauric Coyle added points in the second half and Jason McHugh scored the crucial goal late on. The lads are away to Scotstown this Thursday – all support welcome.

Team and scorers: Christopher McGonnell; Ahmed Gamal, Donal McCarthy, James McKenna; Mustafa Admed, Niall Treanor, Tiarnán Bramley; Turlough Clerkin, Kevin Loughran (0-1); Pauric Coyle (0-1), Jason McHugh (1-0), Francis Lynch; Mark Hetherington, Fearghal McMahon (0-7, 4f), Niall Duffy (1-0).

Subs: Conor Burns for McKenna, Jamie Cassidy for Coyle, Evan Morahan for Duffy.

U-14: An understrength Under-14 Division One team lost away to Carrickmacross last Saturday.

Team and scorers: Conor Flynn; Cathal Power (0-1), Shane McKenna; Ruairí Forde, Aaron Woods, Niall McManus; Paul Peppard, Adam Treanor; Reece Treanor (1-0), Shane McMahon (0-1), Kyle O’Leary (0-1);  Conor Duffy (1-1), Remy McKenna (1-3).

Subs used: Aiden Burns, Evan Cudden, Jordan Clerkin, Kevin Hall.

Carrick conceded the Division Five game, but the boys played a challenge match which gave Under-12 players Zach Mallon and Seán Conway their first taste of Under-14 football.

U-12: The Under-12 Division One team lost their last group game at home to Truagh last Thursday, but they still finished second in the league and they play Scotstown at home in the semi-finals this Saturday. All support welcome.

The Division Four team finished their campaign with a defeat at home to Killeevan, but only after putting in a very good performance. The lads outscored the visitors by 13 to 10, but ended up on the wrong side of the result (5-5 to 2-11).

Sub: Brendan Óg Duffy for McCabe.

Hurling: The senior hurlers beat Carrickmacross at home last Thursday to secure a place in the semi-finals of the league, with Niall Flynn showing his football skills for both goals! The Under-12 hurlers won away to Castleblayney on Monday to finish second in the league.
