Division 4 team: Game against Toome on Friday last. A great performance from a team of mainly young men who were a credit to the club, unfortunately they had little support but this did not stop them.  If the whistle had gone at full time of 30 minutes they were ahead by one point, unfortunately after extra time Toome scored a goal and three points in the four and a half minutes. They showed an excellent attitude throughout the game supporting each other and doing their best. The scorers were Niall McEntee 4 points and Ciaran McCaffrey 5 points.  The Team :Ryan Beattie, Gary Beattie,Daragh Brady, Sean Brady,Aaron Casey, Fergal Connolly, Ciaran McCaffrey, Enda McCaffrey, Patrick McDermott ,Daniel McEntee, Niall McEntee, Steven(Larry)MCQuaid,Cian North, Fintan Rudden, Declan Smyth.

Ladies Senior All Ireland Semi Final:  Monaghan V Kerry  on Saturday 3rd September(This week) Being played in Birr, Throw In 5.oopm  Ellen McCarron and Laura Boylan are playing. Wishing the girls all the best for a good game and a happy result. The ladies had a convincing win over Meath in the previous round.

Draw for two tickets for the All Ireland Final between Dublin and Kerry in September is now on. Tickets are available from Connollys shop in the village. The prize includes free accomdation for two in the Clarion Hotel.

Congratulations to Paul McAviney who celebrated his 21st birthday in Connolly’s last Saturday.

125 Celebration Dinner. Currin Club is celebrating 125 years in existence, the oldest club in Ulster. Many of the families will have Grandfathers and possibly Great Grandfathers who played for the club. It is fitting that we celebrate this birthday with a special night.  Tickets have been printed and are available, but do not leave it too late. The Dinner Dance will take place in Hotel Kilmore on Saturday 19th November. Many tables have already been taken.

NATIONAL FAMINE COMMEMORATION CELEBRATIONS ON SEPTEMBER 10TH 2011:
In conjunction with President McAleese forthcoming visit to  the local area, Dr Eamonn O Ciardha (Carey) originally from Scotshouse and  Senior Professor of University of Ulster, McGee College Derry and Coleraine, will be giving a talk on “Ireland Pre-Famine Times” on Monday September 5th at 8pm in “Scotshouse Community Centre”  EVERYBODY WELCOME.

Parish of Currin – Church of Ireland – Floral Arrangement Demonstration by Timothy Elliott  (Lisnaskea)  ON Friday 16th September 2011 at 8.00pm sharp in Scotshouse Community Centre.
“Bring and Buy Sale” – Cakes, Jams, General Items, etc. Raffle of Flower Arrangements plus other prises.  Tickets  €10 or pay at the door. Supper Included.
