JFC Semi Final Replay: Cremartin 3-03 Aghabog 0-09.

Our odyssey in the 2011 Championship came to a disappointing end on Friday last in Emyvale when a brace of fortuitous goals for Cremartin denied us a place in the final next weekend. Cremartin got off to a blistering start, registering 1-01 inside the first five minutes, however they only scored 1 point thereafter in the first half while we found our range and hit over some good scores to leave the game level at 1-02 to 0-05 at the interval. Having worked hard to get back into the game, Cremartin’s goal just after half time was a real body blow. Still, we did not lose our way and had the deficit down to 2 points only for Cremartin to register a third goal. That left us five points in arrears and for a period it looked like Cremartin might win at a canter. That was not to be the case however and, as has been the trademark of our Championship performances this year, we battled back and had actually managed to reduce the deficit to just three points with a few minutes to go. Unfortunately the fairytale ending was not to be and we couldn’t manage to find the goal that would have pulled the game out of the fire. In a departure from previous years, we certainly reserved our best form for the Championship this season as we belittled our league position and upset the odds on a number of occasions to reach the latter stages. After a very disappointing season last year, this run has helped restore a degree of pride and confidence in the Aghabog jersey. Hopefully, we can now stage a strong finish in the Junior League and Reserve League and look forward to next year with confidence. Best of luck to both Cremartin and Clones in the final which will take place in Ballybay at 6:00pm this Sunday.

Over 35s:

Truagh GFC have invited the Aghabog club down to defend the over 35 title which we won last year. Anybody interested in taking part should contact Declan Smith (087 9769400) or Joey Kelly (087 6254533) before Friday night as we need to let Truagh know if we are taking part.

Camogie: Castleblayney will take on Castletara at 3:00pm this Saturday in an U16 game for the James Travers Cup.

Kiddies Disco: The children’s disco originally scheduled for the sports weekend will now take place this Saturday night from 7pm to 0pm in the clubhouse.

Monaghan OFFICIAL Year Book 2011:

Monaghan  County Board are publishing their own OFFICIAL Year Book in December 2011.

We are asking all local business if approached to ensure that they are taking an advert in the OFFICIAL Year Book.

Please contact local club officers to verify that you are supporting the OFFICIAL Year Book.

Good Luck to Cathriona Brady who travels home with the New York squad to play Carlow this Saturday in the Junior Championship. Cathriona is
vice captain of the team and it’s good to see she didn’t hang up the size 10 boots while in New York.

U12s: We played Killeevan last Saturday and while we were on the losing side once again the girls can take encouragement from how far they have come from our first encounter.

Seniors: We played Monaghan Harps last night in the final of the Intermediate final. Details next week.
