Seniors: We beat Magheracloone 2-13 to 0-8 to advance to the first round proper of the senior championship. We took the lead in the 5th minute through a Daniel McKenna converted free, from which turned out to be our only dead ball score in the game. Magheracloone equalised 3 minutes later. Chrissy McKenna and Barry Cuddy sent us back in front with a point each, a position we didn’t relinquish for the remainder of the match. The game was tight during this period and we were only a point ahead with a minute remaining of the half. However, 3 successive points in injury time, Niall Coyle and a brace from Mark Couinhan, brought us into the interval a healthy 4 point lead, 0-8 to 0-4. We started the second half brightly and were duly awarded with a Niall Coyle goal in the 34th minute. 2 quick points were added from Daniel and Chrissy McKenna to put 9 points between the sides. Though Magheracloone responded with 3 uninterrupted points, we resumed authority with 3 of our own points by the 50th minute. The hot day took its toll on the remaining 10minutes with no scores being registered before sub Gary Meehan blasted to the net in injury time to complete our win 2-13 0-8.
