DRUMHOWAN CLUB NOTES  11.7.11

Intermediate League

We suffered another narrow defeat on Saturday evening last against Sean McDermotts at the latter’s venue.  Despite being marginally ahead for most of the match, Seans put in a strong finish to shade the result.  The fact that we played most of the match with 14 players didn’t help our cause. It is particularly disappointing that despite playing senior football last year, we are struggling at the intermediate grade.  A major improvement will be required if we are to get a result against Rockcorry in the qualifiers on Sunday evening next and perhaps, because of our precarious position in the league, against the same opposition on Wednesday evening next.

Fixtures

We play Rockcorry at Aughnamullan on Sunday evening next in the championship.  Throw in is at 7.30pm.  We face the same opposition at home on Wednesday evening.  Throw in is at 7.45pm

VHI Cul Camps

Parents are reminded that the VHI sponsored summer camps take place in Ballybay between the 18th and 22nd of July next.  The camps commence at 10.00am and conclude at 2,00pm each day.  All children, both boys and girls, between the ages of 6 and 13 are welcome.

GAA Super Camps

GAA Super Camps will be held between 2nd and 4th August next in St Macartans College, Monaghan and Inver Collage, Carrickmacross.  The camps are designed for 13 to 15 year olds and will focus on the development of the skills of Gaelic games.  The fee is a modest 45 euros and all our young members falling within this age group are encouraged to attend.  Further information may be had from Paul O’Connor at 086/8374827 or e-mail developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie

U8’s Go Games

Our U8s participated in the Go Games at Cloghan on Saturday last.  They played games against Cremartin, Rockcorry and Fergal O’Hanlons and acquitted themselves very well.  The club would like to thank the parents of these youngsters and  team mentors for ensuring that the club was represented and for promoting Gaelic games within community
