Doohamlet GFC Notes

Championship: Doohamlet 0-09 Latton 0-12

Doohamlet bellied their lowly league position against high-flying Latton in this championship clash on Saturday last before going down by three points. Ciaran McManus, Shane McManus and Colin Walshe played through the pain barrier carrying injuries going into this game and Barry Murphy and Jason Mc Elroy made their Championship debut. Latton made the early running before Doohamlet settled and took the game to their opponents. Shane McManus drew Doohamlet level with a brace before Glen Comiskey and Ted Duffy saw Doohamlet take a 0-04 to 0-02 lead. Doohamlet were now guilty of turning over possession and this led to Latton scores before Ted Duffy again levelled the scores to see both sides go in at the break 0-05 each.

In the second half Ciaran McManus was deployed at full forward and both teams struggled to gain dominance. Doohamlets defence who were magnificent throughout forced Latton forwards to some wayward shooting. Ted Duffy kept Doohamlet in touch as the game entered its final quarter and only a point separated the sides. Latton then gained the initiative taking a two point lead . Doohamlet laid siege on the Latton goal looking for that all important winning score but Lattons  defence held firm and they advance to the next round.
