Monaghan Ladies: Monaghan Ladies retained their Ulster Title after beating last years All Ireland Finalist Tyrone in the Ulster Final in Clones on Sunday with a score line 3.18 to 10. There was great Currin support for local Ellen McCarron who is a regular on the senior team for the past four years. She played a pivotal role in this game scoring 4 fine points. Also on the panel is Laura Boylan (first aider with the senior Currin men’s team). Congratulations to our girls and the team and continued success in All Ireland series.
Currin V Corduff last Saturday:
After twenty minutes Curin were up 5 – 2 . Then the wheels fell off and Corduff were up 6 – 5 by half time. In the second half Currin scored 3 points, with Stephen Smyth, Ciaran Kierans and Jack McCarron scoring. Corduff came back and scored a point from a free, then Stephen replied straight away. Although Currin were near the Corduff goal a number of times all six forwards were in the centre of the field and as they beat their marker they ran into another Corduff player immediately, lots of passing but going no where. Corduff scored 3 more points to win the game. Final score : Currin 0-9 Corduff 0-10. Scorers for Currin: Stephen Smyth 3 points, Jack McCarron 2 points, Gareth Beattie 1 point, Dick Clerkin 1point, Cieran Kierans 1 point,Gerald O’Callaghan 1 point.
