Last Friday’s Game: Against Tyholland Away – A game of two very different halves. The first half started off with Currin in great form scoring seven points in the first sixteen minutes, Tyholland no points and one of their players with a yellow card. Jack McCarron scored six of the eleven points in the first half. At half time the score was Currin eleven points, Tyholland six. It looked at this stage that it would be a walk over for Currin. However nobody told Tyholland, in the second half they scored first after three minutes and went on to score another seven points . Currin just did not play as well as their first half performance. With two minutes to go Tyholland were one point away from a draw, fortunately Gareth Beattie scored his third point of the game to settle the nerves of the supporters and team mates. Final score Currin 0-15 Tyholland 1-10. Fortunately the points put Currin back into second place in the league. Scorers: Jack McCarron 8 points, Gareth Beattie 3 points, Gerald O’Callaghan 2 points, Phillip O’Callaghan 1 point, Cieran Kierans 1 point. Team: Fergal Connolly, Stephen Beattie, Conor McCaffrey, Enda McCaffrey, Ciaran McCaffrey, Michael Quigley, Gerald O’Callaghan, Dick Clerkin, Francis O’Callaghan, Stephen Smyth, Jack McCarron, Ben Clerkin, Gareth Beattie, Cieran Kierans, Phillip O’Callaghan. Help Required: As you may be aware the news items for the Scotshouse News relies on the Parish Bulletin for most of its news. Last week our notes were not published so I decided to read other village notes. I noticed that a number of people must have helped with the news, when a local dies there was a story about their lives and involvement in the community, not just “lets us remember them” The local schools mentioned who got certificates for many children including attendance as well as academic success. Farmers mentioned Hay Making and threshing which many young people may not know of these activities. We must have people who could tell us about the local area, others who could tell us about what they do or their “industry”.
For the next few weeks I will only print news that I get from people in Scotshouse. A note left in the shop, or a call to 047-5619 is all that would be required. Thanks.
