Clontibret
Senior Championship
Clontibret 4-15, Inniskeen 0-10. We have progressed to the next round of the senior championship with what turned out to be a convincing win against Inniskeen at the weekend. There wasn’t much between the sides in the opening quarter but two goals in a five minute spell effectively killed it off as a contest. Team and scorers: Paul McElroy, Colin Duffy, Colum Greenan, Martin Corey, Donal Carragher, Darach Mooney, Conor Boyle, Eoin Greenan, Paul McGuigan, Rodney Gorman 0-2, Conor McManus 0-6 (0-5 frees), David Savage 0-1, Fergal Mone 1-0, John Paul Mone 3-2, Vinnie Corey 0-1. Subs: Eoin McGuigan 0-2, Ryan McGuigan, Johnny McKenna 0-1, Padraig McGuigan. Our next championship outing will be the weekend of 20th/21st August. We now have a closed period until 7th August when we are at home to Scotstown in the league.
Minors
Clontibret 2-11 St Patricks 1-13. In a game that had everything the outcome was eventually decided by a super dead ball strike by Conor Lavelle deep into injury time to give us a narrow but deserved victory at O’Neill Park on Tuesday night last. But that wasn’t the only super score of the evening, two first half goals from Shane Hughes and four wonderful points from Larry Murphy gave us a lead that St. Pat’s only whittled down as time ran out with their equalising point coming as the clock moved into injury time. But the boys didn’t give up easily and despite being a man down battled back for the last attack that led to that 50 yard strike from Conor to put us unto the semi final with Blayney in August. Team and scorers: Darren Mc Donald, Conor Carragher, Garth Brennan, Karl Foentjies, Aodh Curran (0-1), Liam Savage, Michael O’Dowd, Brian Greenan (0-1), Conor Boyle (0-1), Daire Mckeown, Lorcan Murphy (0-4), Christopher McPhillips, Stephen Mohan, (0-1), Conor Lavelle (0-2), Shane Hughes (2-1) Subs: Caolain Murphy, Donal McElvaney, Ryan O’Neill, Daniel Wilson, Barry Gorman, Cathal Gorman, Sammy Foentjies, Conor Ronaghan.
We played Emyvale in the league on Tuesday gone by, result next week.
Crawley Cup
Clontibret 3-3, Scotstown 1-6. Congratulations to the boys on bringing the Crawley Cup back to Clontibret again after a two year absence. Team and scorers: Declan Savage, Brian McSkane, Kevin Ward, Christopher Tedore, Philip Rooney (Capt.), Fergal McGuigan, Aiden Leonard, Kieran Greenan, Fergal Greenan, Paul Winters 0-2, Fergal O’Dowd 1-0, Darren Murphy, Niall Duffy 0-1, Padraig McShane 1-0, Shane Murphy.
