DRUMHOWAN CLUB NOTES 13.6.11
McGuigan Builders IFC
Aughnamullen 0-7 Drumhowan 0-5
As the final score would suggest, this was a very poor game of football and our performance, in particular, was very disappointing. Despite leading by the narrowest of margins at half time after a less than convincing first half display, our supporters could be excused for expecting that we would raise our game in the second half and go on to secure a result. Despite some urgency on the resumption of play, the anticipated rally never materialised and we managed to score only one point in the second half. Congratulations to Aughnamullen who clearly had their home work done and in fairness could have won by more. However, thanks to the ‘backdoor’ system, all is not lost but if we are to make any impact in this year’s championship, much improvement will be required. We play Rockcorry in the qualifiers in a couple of weeks time and hopefully by then, we can get our act together and progress in the championship. Team: Enda McElroy, Dermot Mooney, Patrick Duffy, Mark O’Neill, Darren Duffy, Liam McGuirk, Kevin Mooney, Anthony Mulligan, Dermot McDermott, Patrick Mulligan, Kieran McElroy, Niall Mooney, David Millar (0-1), Colm Lambe (0-3), Kieran Mooney (0-1). Subs used: Kieran Deery, Christopher McGinnity, Damian Duffy

Our reserves travel to Maghercloone on Wednesday 22nd next to take one the locals in the quarterfinals. Maghercloone are currently riding high in the reserve league Division I and it will be a case of “David facing Goliath”. Despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him, David overcame his more powerful opponent and who is to say that our reserves can not do like wise. This young team deserves our support and all our members and supporters are urged to travel to Maghercloone on Wednesday give them all the encouragement and support that we can.

We are holding a sports day on Sunday next 18th. This promises to be a fun day for the family with all the usual attractions. Proceedings get under way at 2.00pm and the entire community is encouraged to support this event.
