Intermediate
Football League,  Friday 29th
April

Currin 3 – 15               Drumhowan 0 – 9

Currin continued their season in fine style
with a great win over Drumhowan in Coolnacarte on Friday evening last. Played
in beautiful evening sunshine, Currin started well with points from Gerard O
Callaghan and Jack Mc Carron. Currin dominated the first half with a strong
showing in midfield from Francis O Callaghan and Dick
Clerkin to lead by 1 – 12 to 0 -3 at half time, with Philip O
Callaghan getting the goal.. Drumhowan were obviously short a number of
regulars and the Currin forward line continued to play really well as a
cohesive unit with a great display of scoring from Jack Mc Carron,
complementing the work rate of Garret Beatty, Ben Clerkin and Shane O Connor.
An injury early on to Ciaran Kierans gave Philip O Callaghan the opportunity to
stake a claim for a permanent position and he finished his two goals in fine style.
The defence again were excellent with Enda Mc Caffrey and Sean Brady starring. While
this was an excellent win against a team who were senior last year, the players
and management will be aware that there is a still a lot of work to be done.

Intermediate
Football League, Sunday 1st May

Currin 1 – 5                  Corduff  0 –
8.

On Sunday, after only one days rest we
travelled to Corduff for the refixed first round game. In a hard fought and
very tight game the spoils were shared. Played in difficult conditions, where a
very strong wind made free flowing football difficult, both teams tried manfully
to adjust to the elements, but it always as going to be ‘a game of two halves’.
Currin had the aid of the wind in the first half and only went in leading by
five points despite having dominated. A fine goal by Jack Mc Carron saw Currin
lead at half time by the scoreline, 1 – 4 to 0 – 2.

In the second half Corduff began strongly
and three quick scores made it ominous for Currin. However great defensive play
from the Mc Caffrey brothers, in particular, kept Currin in the game and they
only fell behind with five minutes to go. After a great run by Gerard O
Callaghan, Jack Mc Carron converted the resulting free to leave the sides level
at the end. Currin 1- 5,  Corduff 0 – 8.

All things considered it was a good weekend,
with three points secured out of a possible four, and so continued our good
start to the league, but all will be aware that there is a long way to go.

Team and scorers:

Fergal Connolly, Sean Brady, Conor Mc
Caffrey, Enda Mc Caffrey, Michael Quigley, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Gerard O
Callaghan,  Francis O Callaghan, Dick Clerkin,
, Stephen Smith, Jack Mc Carron 1 – 4, Ben Clerkin, Shane O Connor,
Garret Beatty, Philip O Callaghan 0 – 1,

Subs used: Stephen Beatty for Stephen
Smith, Dara Brady for Shane O Connor.

Intermediate
Football League,  Sunday 8th May

On Sunday next, 8th May, we
travel to Carrickmacross for our next game. Carrickmacross, unlucky not to have
won a senior championship in the last few years to go along with their senior
league win, will be a huge task for us. Throw in is at 2.30pm and all support
is welcomed.
