Clontibret

Juvenile Flag Day & Family Fun Day

A great weekend on
both counts. The Juvenile Flag Day was a great success and thanks to all
parents and children who helped out. Well done to Caroline who organised the
rota and collected the monies. The Family Fun Day was an excellent event with
the sunshine helping to keep smiles on everyone’s faces. The whole day was well
organised from the fun camogie game to James Duffy scoring a lucky goal in the
penalty kick competition! It was great to see all the stewards working hard.
They managed to keep everyone full with food from the BBQ and people were
entertained with pillow fights, races, bouncy castles and horse shoe throwing.
The day would not have run as smoothly without the hands-on approach from
Martin, Colm and Kieran and everyone was able to enjoy themselves in the
clubhouse afterwards listening to No Strings Attached. Well done to everyone
involved.

Reserve
League Division 1

Clontibret 1-17, ‘Blayney 0-6. This proved
to be a fairly facile win against an under strength ‘Blayney team. Team and
scorers: Arthur Morgan, Philip Rooney, Padraig McGuigan, Fergal McGuigan, Donal
Carragher, Colin Duffy (0-1), Fergal Greenan, Daithi McKeown (0-1), Pauric

week. Next Reserve match is on Sunday, 15th May away to Latton at
2.30pm.

Reserve
League Division 3

league is on Wednesday, 18th May away to Rockcorry at 7.45pm.

Minor League

Clontibret 2-8, Truagh
1-7. An excellent team performance to come back from a bad start where we were
a goal and 2 points down after ten minutes. The boys really lifted it in the
second half and ran out 4 point winners. The match against ‘Blayney due to take
place last Tuesday has been deferred to Friday, 13th May at 7.45pm
in Clontibret due to a bereavement in the ‘Blayney club. The next game is on
Tuesday, 10th May away to Carrick at 7.45pm.

U16 League

We play Magheracloone
at home this evening, Thursday at 7.15pm.

U14s

Division 2
Championship Semi-Final: Clontibret 3-21, Toome 6-9. This was a fantastic game
of football in which the two teams really gave their all. Toome raced into an
early lead and three goals in the first quarter left Clontibret chasing the
game in the opening stages. However the boys really turned on the style and an
exhibition of point scoring along with some excellent defending gave us a three
point victory at full time. This set up a final pairing with Magheracloone
which took place in Toome on Monday evening. The first two quarters were very
close, but the Clontibret boys pulled away from them in the latter stages of
the match to win a great contest. Well done to all the boys and management team
of Marty, Colm and Dessie, along with all their managers over the years from u8
up who have all contributed to this wonderful victory. A notable aspect of this
victory is that it is the first u14 cup to have been won by a Clontibret team. The
successful panel was Tiarnan McQuaid, Darren Moen, Conor Brennan, Cormac Boyle,
Gerard Gorman, Dylan Connolly, Francis Hughes, Francis McNally, Senan McCague,
Conor Moen, Michael Savage, Dean McDonnell, Darragh Hughes, Dean McGuigan,
Brian McSkeane, Ross Lowey, Cian Coyle, Christopher McDermott, Dean Brennan,
Lorcan Rooney, Peter Fitzpatrick, Jamie McMahon, Cian Brennan, Aaron McGuigan,
Jack Gormley, Oisin Lavelle, Daniel McDonnell and Niall Leonard.

The Division 5 team lost out to Aghabog in their championship encounter.

U12s

The u12s lost out to
Emyvale in both divisions on Saturday last.

U8s
& Nursery Training

Training for u8s and nursery children
continues every Tuesday at 6.30pm. Newcomers are always very welcome to come
along.

rest in peace.
