May Bank Holiday Marquee Event is Here: The large marquee has been erected and the big weekend in St. Mellans is ready to go. Friday night hosts a boxing exhibition and ladies mud wrestling. Saturday night, 30th April, Declan Nerney will be the headlining event. The last night of the event, Bank Holiday Sunday, will see the very popular live band, More Power to Your Elbow, take stage. A weekend not to be missed. Be there.

Seniors: We maintained our good start to the year with a 2-14 0-09 win over Inniskeen last Saturday in St. Mellans. We started the game strongly, though following early wayward shooting, were only 1-2 to 0-3 ahead after 22 minutes. Daniel McKenna got our goal while Mark Counihan registered the 2 opening points. The accuracy gauge was fine tuned closing the half though as we hit 4 unanswered points in a 4 minute period, Daniel hitting a hat trick of points and a further point added from the meandering Niall Coyle left the half time score Gaeil Triucha 1-6 Inniskeen 0-3. Points were traded early in the second half before Mark Counihan put 9 points between the sides when he struck a goal in the 36th minute. The gap remained the same 20 minutes later when 10 points were shared between the sides in the period, Noel Clerkin getting a point upon his introduction and Daniel McKenna claiming the remainder. Niall Coyle went on another excursion in the 59th minute to double his score tally for the day, and sub Alan McKenna clinched his first point the year from just inside the 50 to finish the game Gaeil Triucha 2-14 to 0-09. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Mike Treanor, Niall Feely, Niall McQuillan; Rory Treanor, Keith Sheerin, Niall Coyle (0-2); Niall McMeel, Barry Cuddy; Eoghan Kelly, John Treanor, Pauric Treanor Daniel McKenna (1-8, 3f), Damian McRory, Mark Counihan (1-2). Handball:

Hard luck: to Christopher McKenna (D) and Terry McElvaney from the Harps who lost their Minor Doubles All Ireland Final last Saturday in Kingscourt. In the first game the boys lost 21-8 playing nothing close to their potential but regrouped and played a very hard fought second game in which they were serving game ball but ended losing the game 21-20. While not playing to their true potential yet getting so close, it merely illustrates that they are among the best up and coming handballers in the country. Both players have given everybody great enjoyment with their play and have had great success together. Everybody hopes it won’t be long until they are both back on winning ways.

U12/U13 County Team: lost the Ulster Final to Tyrone last Monday evening in Armagh. Aaron and Ryan Mohan were playing in doubles as part of the team. Well done on getting to the Ulster Final and well done to all coaches and mentors for putting so much time and effort into the whole squad.

County Doubles: is still outstanding. When all finals are fixed we will let all know of times dates and venues via texts and notes.

Senior Club singles Finals: between Padraig McKenna and Christopher McKenna (PJ) & David O’Reilly and Fergal O’Neill and have to be re-fixed due to Padraig and Fergal both being injured.

Club Doubles games: must be played asap as the Finals are being fixed for May the 1st .

Juveniles: are asked to keep a ball in your kit bag during the football and hurling season and any chance you get jump into the alley.
