Seniors Aughnamullen hosted near neighbours Corduff on Sunday last in the Game Of The Weekend and a good day was had by all. The Aughnamullen Pipe Band provided the pre-match entertainment which included taking both teams on a parade around the field. Eilish Deery then gave a lovely rendition of our National Anthem before the action got underway.
Aughnamullen opened the scoring through Sean Sheridan but Corduff hit back quickly with two pionts of their own. Eddie Mc Ardle levelled the scores but the away side went two points ahead before Mickey Keenan pulled one back for Aughnamullen. Both sides excanged two scores each, ours coming from E. Mc Ardle and Chris Keenan, to leave Corduff ahead by the minimum closing in on half time. Pete Dooney then levelled the scores with a brilliant long range effort before S. Sheridan again split the posts to leave Aughnamullen ahead by 1 point at the break. Both sides had a lot of possesion after the restart but failed to turn it into scores. Corduff eventually did and hit two points in a minute to put them back infront. The home side then hit a purple patch and kicked 4 unanswered points from E. Mc Ardle,P. Dooney, C. Keenan and Dooney again to put them ahead by 3 with 5 mins to go but Corduff finished strong and fought back to secure a draw F/T score Aughnamullen 0-11 Corduff 0-11.
