SPRAOI SCOR: AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS was how Oifigeach Cultura agus Gaeilge JP Graham and Scor Co-ordinator Pauline Rooney described last Friday night’s Spraoi Scor in Tullycorbett where an absolutely packed house was treated to some great entertainment and competition that augurs well for the future of this element of GAA activity in the county. This year showed an increase in participation over last year with 13 clubs taking part with 210 competitors. The level of participation this year prompted immediate discussions among the members of the Scor Committee regarding the necessity of seeking out a bigger venue for next year and as numbers are increasing year on year there will have to be consideration given to making it an afternoon event. On the night there were 10 Instrumental Music Groups, 10 Solo Singers, 8 Ballad Groups and 13 Quiz Teams making for a somewhat marathon session but it was all kept moving very smoothly due to the excellent arrangements and the co-operation of all concerned as well the excellent job done by Fear a Ti Mackie Rooney.  The clubs that took part were Doohamlet, Doohamlet ladies, Monaghan Harps, Scotstown, Aghabog, Drumhowan, Killeevan, Sean McDermott, Emyvale, Latton, Carrickmacross, Monaghan Handball club and Ballybay. Drumhowan took top honours on the night with four titles, Instrumental Music, Recitation, (Niall Grogan), Set Dancing and the Quiz after going to a tie-break with Ballybay.
