SCOR SINSEAR FINAL.

Clontibret Community Centre was the venue for the county final of Scor Sinsear on Friday evening last, February 18th with nine clubs taking part and vying for a place in the Ulster semi final. After a very entertaining and competitive evening Emyvale emerged as top club with 4 titles including an Club is Fearr, Scotstown took two titles with Aghabog, Sean McDermotts and Latton taking one each. The following go through to the Ulster semi final:

Set Dancing: Emyvale

Rince Foirne: Emyvale,

Solo Singing: Emyvale (Edel McMahon),

Instrumental Music: Latton,

Ballad Group: Scotstown,

Quiz: Scotstown

Recitation: Aghabog (Ciara McPhillips),

Novelty Act: Sean McDermotts,

Best Club: Emyvale.

The Ulster semi final involving the Monaghan winners along with those from Cavan and Armagh, takes place in Silverbridge, Co. Armagh this Saturday February 26th.

SCOR NA N OG COUNTY FINAL.

The big freeze may have decimated the fixtures programme but it had no impact at all on the county final of Scor na nOg which went ahead as planned on Saturday afternoon last.

Despite the weather all the participants were present as was a capacity crowd who were treated to a great afternoon’s competition and entertainment. Fear a Ti Mackie Rooney got proceedings underway promptly at 2.00pm and all matters were settled by around 5.15pm. Scotstown took top honours with 4 awards, Ceili Dancing, Instrumental Music, Ballad Group and Quiz. Killeevan won the Novelty Act for the second year in a row as did Clones in the Recitation, Colm Kirk, again taking the honours. Oifigeach Cultura, Pauline Rooney paid tribute to everyone who had worked to make the evening such a success; “we had a full house, a very appreciative audience, great talent and I have no doubt that our participants will do well in Ulster”.

The following are the county winners and they now form the line up along with the winners from Cavan and Armagh for the Ulster Scor na nOg Semi Final which takes place in Corcaghan, tomorrow evening Friday December 10th starting at 8.00pm.
Ceili Dancing: Scotstown.
Solo Singing: Carrickmacross (Aine Flanagan) .
Instrumental Music: Scotstown.
Recitation: Clones (Colm Kirk)
Ballad Group: Scotstown.
Novelty Act: Killeevan.
Set Dancing: Drumhowan.
Question Time: Scotstown.

The Ulster final was in Silverbridge, Co. Armagh on Saturday January 15th 2011 but Monaghan had no winners.
