A Chara,
Please find below a list of Club Development initiatives which the Coaching & Games Development Committee are planning to run over the next year 2011. The Committee, hope to stagger these initiatives over an extended period of time as shown below in order to maximise the impact and attendance in each programme. The purpose of these initiatives is to improve coaching standards within our clubs and also to assist our volunteers who work tirelessly to promote our Games.
- Coach Education Programme – Jan – Feb – March & October- December
Foundation & Award 1 Courses will be delivered from January to early March and October to December, to up skill our club coaches. We hope to run 5 foundation courses and 4 Award 1 courses throughout the county. These courses are accredited by the GAA and designed to help improve coaching standards within our clubs. When undertaking the Foundation Course each coach will complete the Child Protection Course. Any parent or novice coach who is working with children needs to have the Child Protection Course Award. The Foundation Award is really only an access award to the coaching process. It addresses the Fundamentals skills of player development at under 10. All volunteers working with under age teams should have a minimum of the Award 1 completed in order to have more coaching specific skills developed. These courses can be held in a club venue or at a central venue within Monaghan (Cloghan). If your club is interested in hosting a course please get in touch. POSTER IS ATTACHED WITH DATES/TIMES/VENUES OF THESE COURSES.
- Coaching the Coaches – March /April
Following on the successful programme targeting coaches working with the U6 – U8 age groups (Fundamentals) in 2010, it is hoped to expand this programme in 2011 to include the U14’s & U16’s (Training to Train). Coaches who work with U6/U8 & U14/U16 age groups will receive 1 workshop in each age group and these workshops will be held in Cloghan. The purpose of these initiatives is to give coaches an insight into what they should be coaching at each age group. PLEASE TURN OVERLEAF FOR MORE DETAILS – Page 2
