Lotto Jackpot now €8,400: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The lucky numbers were 2, 7, 8, 22. There were 7 match 3 winners, each receiving €30: Mick Brady-Shanco, Shauna Butler, Rowena McDermott, Louise Treanor, Lisa McCarron, Deirdre Loughran (Yearly Ticket) & Niall+Jenny McKenna-Drumbriston (YT). Cairde Gaeil Triucha: Thanks to the fantastic support we have received throughout the year for Cairde Gaeil Triucha. Your contributions this year has helped pay towards the new extension room and handball arena, purchase of additional floodlights and works to the new fields. The club sincerely wishes to thank all those who have invested in this by their participation in the scheme.

St. Mellan’s Bar Christmas Opening Days: St. Mellans bar will be opened this Thursday and Christmas Eve evening. The bar will be closed on Christmas night and St. Stephens night, but will re-open at 5pm on Tuesday 28th December for post-match O-35 hot drinks. The hurlers are also holding a texas hold em poker night on the night. Friday week for New Years Eve celebrations, doors open at 9pm. Ring in the new year with friends and family. Dancing to late and finger food served on the night.
Christmas Charity Match: St. Mellans will host a charity O-35 festive game between Truagh and Madden on Tuesday 28th December at 3pm. The club bar will be opened early afterwards with some food and refreshments served, and live sport on the big screen. The proposed senior challenge has been cancelled; however it is proposed to get all the seniors along to the bar for a Christmas get together cool down. Everyone welcome to come along and join the craic.
Club Shop: Last chance to stock up on club merchandise for Christmas. Many items to choose from to make the perfect Christmas present. New to the shop this week are pencil cases and air fresheners along with the usual hats, flags, jerseys etc. Why not come and have a look around. Christmas Party: The Christmas party, held last Saturday evening, was a huge success. Thanks to all those who attended for making it an enjoyable night. Special praise to the bar and catering staff and committee who put in tremendous efforts to make the night the success it was. This was the first event held since the new room was refurbished and the work was duly complimented. Photos of the refurbished hall can be found on the club website.
Handball:
Juvenile Christmas Break: All juvenile coaching is now over for the holidays and will recommence on January 4th and 6th. Practise is advised during this period as the county championships are just around the corner and applies to senior and juvenile players.
The club All Ireland Semi Final: will now take place on Jan 2nd in St.Coman’s, Roscommon. All support welcome. We are hoping to run a bus to the venue for players and supporters. Members will be kept in touch via texts.
League: The Mono league should now be completed. It is intended to play the semi-finals and possibly the final between Christmas and the new year. All players and captains will be informed via texts.
Christmas Blitz: Frank is hoping to run off a day long Blitz for any grade 4 or 5 players or any old foggey thinking of coming out of retirement. Ring Frank for more information if interested.
Membership: There are still a few players who yet have to pay their membership. We wish to remind those who have yet to pay to do so asap as they will not be allowed to continue to play handball due to the lack of insurance.
Happy Christmas: And on a final happy note the club would like to wish all within and outside the club a very happy Christmas and prosperous new year. Hope to see everybody back in 2011.
Hurling:
Poker Night: The hurling club are hosting a texas hold em poker night in St.Mellans on Tuesday the 28th of December at 8.30pm. Sure to be a good night.
Christmas Raffle: The hurler’s Christmas raffle with prizes of hampers and bottles will take place this Thursday night in St. Mellans. Tickets can be bought from any of the hurlers up until draw time.
